A religious service for participants of Course 2–2025 of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) was held on Sunday, 7 December 2025, at the Church of Pentecost in Burma Camp.
The Guest of Honour, Dr Ato Conduah Orleans-Lindsay, Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University, expressed appreciation to the Acting Commandant for the opportunity to address the gathering. He underscored the importance of strategic leadership in tackling complex, high-level challenges, noting that the skills acquired during the programme should enable participants to drive meaningful change within their respective spheres.
Dr Orleans-Lindsay highlighted the responsibility of strategic leaders to champion innovation and make impactful contributions to society. He urged participants to leverage available resources to address specific national challenges, stressing that building a legacy requires resilience, discipline, and a commitment to professionalism. He commended the families of the course participants for their unwavering support and sacrifices.
Delivering a joint sermon on the theme “Called and Trained to Make a Difference in Your Chosen Area”—with scriptural references from Psalm 24:1–2, Luke 12:42–48, and Qur’an 38:26–30, the Director General of the Department of Religious Affairs (DRA), Apostle Dr Brigadier General Kumi Wood, together with the Acting Chief Imam, Major M. Alhassan, encouraged participants to view their careers as service to God. They emphasized the principles of stewardship, diligence, and accountability, reminding officers that service to God is ultimately service to humanity.
They clergy further advised that the motivation for pursuing a military career should stem from passion and national service rather than financial gains. They stressed that while the uniform confers authority, true influence is earned through character, honesty, and sincerity.
The Acting Commandant of the NCDS expressed gratitude to the Guest of Honour, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, senior officers, families, and invited guests for their support and presence at the ceremony.
