NCDS Holds Opening Ceremony for Strategy-Making Module

The National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) has officially opened the Strategy-Making Module for participants of Course 2-2025 at a ceremony held on Monday, 4 August 2025, at the College Auditorium. In his remarks to open the Module, the Commandant of NCDS, Brigadier General Frederick Dankyi Ntiri, warmly welcomed facilitators from the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS) and expressed his appreciation for their continuous collaboration with the College. He highlighted that the module would span two weeks of interactive and thought-provoking sessions with a one-week exercise designed to sharpen the understanding of the participants in strategy formulation and application. Brigadier General Ntiri emphasised the pivotal role of the ACSS in enriching the College’s academic content, which is further enhanced in areas of strategic partnership, capacity building, and fostering a culture of collaboration. He noted that the ACSS, an institution under the United States Department of Defense and part of the National Defense University in Washington D.C., is dedicated to enhancing Africa’s ability to address its security challenges through research, policy analysis, and leadership development. During the sessions, ACSS facilitators Colonel Sean McClure and Dr Joel Amegbor will be engaging the participants in interactive lectures focusing on national security formulation and implementation. In his introductory remarks, Col McClure stressed the importance of equipping leaders with the capacity to navigate and resolve complex security issues in their respective spheres of influence. He further noted that the selection of participants for Course 2-2025 was a deliberate effort to groom individuals who can offer strategic solutions to evolving security and leadership challenges across various sectors.
